One republic apologize vs something's not right
What will hit you smack in the face as youre watching the Native show is that these guys are just really talented musicians, singers, and songwriters. (A somewhat similar setup to the Depeche Mode tour from earlier this year, if any of you happened to catch that). Their stage is intimate, and manages to stay that way despite the diamond cut video screens that fill the backdrop behind them. One Republic doesnt try to overwhelm you with a lot of gimmicks and special effects. What youll experience is something thats become a bit of a lost art in auto tune era talent, real talent.

What comes next is something more than just a good rock show, however. The energy and anticipation will be palpable.

By the end of the night youll realize that something happened to you on the way to the One Republic concert you became a fan of American Authors, and the Script (if you werent already).īy the time One Republic takes the stage, youll be about an hour to an hour and a half in to your evening. These bands are very talented in their own right, with hits such as ∻est Day of My Life by American Authors and the Scripts ∻reakeven (Falling to Pieces) & Hall of Fame. American Authors and the Script each bring a tremendous amount of energy to their performances, while managing to accomplish exactly what an opening band should strive to deliver an introduction of their music to fans who may not yet be familiar with the bands in an exciting entertaining way that amps up the crowd for the headliners. The Native Summer Tour was happily an exception to that trend, as they got the party started with quality performances from The Script and the American Authors. The opening act has become passé when it comes to concerts these days. The end result was a jam packed 90 minute set (without an intermission) that wrapped up at approximately 10pm CST.īelow is the set list from the Native Summer Tour (may vary slightly from show to show). However, the anti-rain dance must have worked, as a few minutes later, the band returned for their encore and informed the audience that they had been given the all clear to complete their set. An hour into the concert, the band closed out their set and it appeared that concert was over. Shortly into the concert, Ryan Tedder led that audience in a rendition of rain, rain, go away in hopes of keeping the thunderstorms at bay. However, due to the threat of heavy storms in the area, the band condensed their performance in case the show was cut short. After another 20 minute break, One Republic took the stage at around 8:30 pm CST for what normally would have been a 2 hour show. The Script, with help from American Authors, took the stage before 7:30 pm CST and played a little over a half hour set, which included ∻reakeven, and ended with their hit Hall of Fame. The listed show time on sites like Stubhub was 7pm CST. The scheduled show time printed on the tickets was 6:30 pm CST for the Thursday, Jshow.

He was so friendly and down to earth, like any other fan at the game that most people (myself included) didnt realize he was a celebrity, until later in the evening.Īs the Native Summer Tour continues, heres a quick review of the highlights from the Jshow at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL plus some tips and tricks for those of you planning to attend a future show of the tour, and/or a future concert at Ravinia.

In fact, I happen to run into One Republic front man Ryan Tedder at the Ravens vs. This relationship and appreciation of their audience serves to only enhance the concert going experience. I only bring this up, because despite their tremendous success, the band displays a tangible sincerity, humility, and appreciation of their fans, like few others. If not for the abundance of fan-love shown the band online through sites like MySpace (yes that MySpace!) One Republic might not have become the mega band they are today. In many regards, One Republic is a band made for the fans, by the fans. Its a show that you wont want to miss.Īs many of you may know, One Republic was dropped from their label, Columbia Records, before ∺pologize took the world by storm (thanks to Timbalands Shock Value Album). Who doesnt, right? The One Republic Native Summer Tour featuring the Script and the American Authors is a great reminder of why we love music, especially live music in the summertime.
